Volunteering with us

The L&NWR Society is a registered educational charity and is run entirely by its members and other volunteers.

There are always opportunities for members to become involved is various aspects of the Society.  We also welcome non members who are interested in helping us.

If you would like to become involved please contact secretary@lnwrs.org.uk in the first instance.

Volunteering with the Study Centre

Volunteers play an important role at the Study Centre, working alongside our members to:

Add information about the items we hold in our collections.

Create indexes to make it easier for people to access our most popular records.

Repair items within our collections to make sure they are ready for long term preservation.

Promote and share information about our collections via our social media channels.

However, whilst some volunteers are interested in the railway, its infrastructure, the locomotives and rolling stock, the men and women who made it work, others are motivated by the challenges of managing and running an Archive and Study Centre.

For more information about volunteering at the Study Centre please contact archivist@lnwrs.org.uk or projects@lnwrs.org.uk
