Rapido Trains Ltd announce two new LNWR wagons in 4mmm scale 00 Gauge

Following Rapido Trains Ltd announcement of the LNWR D84 and D90 open Wagons in 4mm Scale, 00 gauge, The London and North Western Railway Society is delighted to announce we are commissioning an exclusive numbered variant of both wagons.
Our D84 4 plank Open General Merchandise Wagon No.45107 is in LNWR Grey Livery. Our D90 10T Coal Wagon No.57433 is also featured in LNWR Grey livery. Both wagons are representative of known prototypes and feature two rib buffers, long brake handle, split spoke wheels seated in metal bearings and a high level of detail above and below the floor line.
The RRP of these wagons is £32.95 each and you can place pre-orders now by emailing sales@lnwrs.org.uk

Ready to run accurate LNWR 50ft arc roof corridor carriages

Bachmann have just announced ready to run  4mm scale carriages in LNWR livery!   The Society has been involved in their development, resulting in accurate scale models.

The carriages will be available in the new year, with orders being taken from the 6th November.  There are four diagrams on offer . They will be available in LNWR, LMS and Midland & Great Northern Joint liveries.  The quality of the LNWR livery and lining is superb, as is the level of detail.

Members only website

As of the beginning of 2024 this website includes a number of pages that are exclusively for Society members. These pages include downloadable versions of our latest Newsletter and Journal, plus access to Society publications dating back to 1973 via our FlipBook library.  There is a version of our online shop with its own price structure. Members might also be interested in a number of very early films, some dating back to the late 1890’s, that we have in our archives.  Copyright restrictions mean that sadly we cannot share these publicly but do allow sharing to the membership.

From time to time the Society are gifted items to sell to raise funds, the members pages will be used to offer these items to the membership only in the first instance.

Our Study Centre in Kenilworth, Warwickshire is open every week, usually on Wednesdays and one Saturday of the month. Scroll down to see the calendar lower down this page for exact dates.

Our annual Steam Up Event will be on Saturday, 13th of September 2025, hosted by the Stafford & District Model Engineering Society

The Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition   16th to 19th October  at the Warwickshire Events Centre
