Our Society needs to find new premises.
Our new landlord has given us notice to quit our Study Centre as of the 2nd of September. As many will know, the building at Kenilworth is shared with the Signalling Record Society and both societies would prefer to continue our relationship in shared premises. We are starting a fund to help us meet the inevitable costs. We are looking at the possibility of grants, but even if possible, these almost always require matched funding.

We are looking for new premises, these will inevitably be more expensive. If we can’t find a suitable location in time, we shall have to put our archives into storage. Secure storage is far from a cheap option, and it is something we want to avoid. By adding to our fund you will be helping us extend our options for finding a new home.
Why have a Study Centre?
Our Study Centre is far more than just a building to house our archives, important as that function is. It provides a working space where we conserve, catalogue and digitise our collections. It is a meeting place for both societies and a hub for other groups such as local history societies to use our scanning and printing equipment. It is a community of hardworking volunteers who gather together to record the history of a great railway company. That history is far more than just the locomotives and rolling stock, glorious though they were. It is the social history of a period of significant change in our country. Our ever-growing range of historic documents are invaluable to social historians and those researching family history. It is a resource open to all with an interest in the LNWR. This includes specialist magazine editors, TV companies and model manufacturers such as Bachmann and Rapido seeking accurate information for their publications, programmes and products.
