Bachmann 4mm scale 50ft corridor carriages

The eagerly awaited Bachmann LNWR corridor carriages are here at last.
The range consists of a full brake, an all third (available in two differing numbers), a tricomposite and a brake composite.
There is no doubt that the absolutely stunning rendition of the livery is the most striking feature of these carriages. But once that initial awe subsides, the accuracy and overall level of detail are evident. The full brake is wider than the others, with the correct brackets under the body to support the extra width. The tricomposite is dual fitted, with both Westinghouse and vacuum brakes being represented. Several of these 50ft carriages were dual fitted for use over the lines of other railway companies-most famously in the Sunny South Specials that ran to south coast resorts.
From the separately applied door handles to the tiny but perfectly legible smoking notices on the window, these carriages are a joy to behold.
Each carriage comes with extra parts that can be added by the owner, these include a replacement for the tension lock couplings in the shape of twin pipes, coupling hooks and screw link couplings, some extra pipes and a door for the corridor connectors.
These LNWR period models have the correct Mansell pattern wheels. The original bogies and OO wheels will suit most purchasers. For EM or P4 gauges replacement bogies will be the easiest option as the width between the axle bearings does not allow for longer axles.
Models of the quality are never going to be cheap, but the combination of accuracy and the superb quality of the livery do make them value for money. Anyone who has lined an LNWR carriage will attest to the many hours of work involved, and very few could get close to this standard. It is to be hoped that these carriages will spark more interest in the Premier Line and lead to the introduction of more LNWR locos and rolling stock. They will look wonderful behind the Bachmann Precedent.

The carriages are also available in the later LMS livery and in M&GNJ livery
