Modeller Day 2025

More details of what will be on offer

The Clarendon & Scrubbs team Lane will be running a full exhibition sequence during the day

The P4 layout Clarendon & Scrubbs Lane is set in West London in the year 1908.  It represents a fictitious branch off the West London Line, LNWR infrastructure with running rights for the LSWR ,LBSC and GWR.  Had it existed, it would have been the nearest mainline station to the site of the Franco British Exhibition that attracted over 8 million visitors. This gives us a reason for an intensive passenger and freight service.  Having been started almost 30 years ago the layout is DC only and is operated using Pentrollers.  These give very fine control of our locomotives, including a coast & brake facility. The layout is fully signalled, with operators driving to the signals.

Display of models and demonstration by Chris Cox

Chris Cox builds exquisite models of early railways.  His Engine Shed and Pump House, 1839 was featured in Model Railway Journals  Nos.307 & 308.  Chris is not only bringing along a selection of models, including that building. He has also offered to show us how he build his, very small, items of rolling stock. The Scalefour Society has published an article by Chris in Scalefour News number241

3D Model making with David Maltman

Our Modelling Officer, David Maltman will be there to talk about the process of creating models with a 3D printer.  He will bring his equipment, although we can’t see it in action it does give a good idea of what is required.  David has produced several LNWR carriages and vans, as well as models for his other passions (which shall remain nameless!)

David also sells some models and can take orders for the following.

4 Wheel Fish Van

D 317 conversion parts (requires a Ratio 50ft Corridor carriage)

Buxton Set ( 4 x 45ft, plus 1 42ft carriage)

He can be contacted via modelling@lnwrs.org.uk

London Road Models

John Redrup, of London Road Models fame, is a strong supporter of our Society.  For our Modeller day he will be bringing a display of some of his range but only a limited number of kits for sale.  Please note that he is not bringing his full trade stand.  If there is something you would like to purchase, please place an order beforehand, and he will bring it along for collection.

The full range can be found on their website, http://londonroadmodels.com/

The Philip Millard collection

Philip Millard was a very well known and respected member of the L&NWR Society.  He was the acknowledged expert on carriages and wrote several books on the subject.   The Society is custodian of his LNWR models, which include 4mm scale EM gauge, 7mm scale and 10mm scale.  There will be a selection of these model on display.

Bring and Buy/Second hand stand

We will have a number of items for sale. These are items donated to the Society for the purpose of fund-raising.  Visitors can also bring railway related items to sell on the stand ( they don’t have to be LNWR)   We will take a commission of 15% on all items sold.   If you have a number of items please let us know beforehand using the form here

We should be able to take card payments at this event.

Display Stands

We will have a number of display stand where visitors can place their LNWR models.  Most have track in various gauges.  It would be helpful if those bringing items for display could provide a small notice giving details of the model and its owner.
