A further ten ‘B’ class locomotives were similarly
converted into 2-8-0’s but were given bigger boilers , the same
diameter as the passenger ‘Precursor’ and
‘Experiment class engines.
Two ‘E’ class were also
given the bigger boiler, finally totalling eleven ‘F’
class. With two 15in high pressure and two 20½in low
pressure cylinders, this made a powerful, flexible and economic
design.
